Director’s Welcome

The University of Piraeus’ MSc Program in Cybersecurity and Data Science is now in its third academic year. After a successful bootstrap in the academic year 2021-2022, we are proud for enrolling high-quality and motivated students, as well as for providing a state-of-the-art academic program, based on the fusion of two cutting-edge Computer Science fields.

As the Director of the MSc for the academic year 2023-2024, my vision is to assure the continuous improvement of our program, in both academic and organizational aspects. Together with the Steering Committee of the MSc, we are devoted to ensuring that enrolled students receive up-to-date education, advanced knowledge, practical skills, and cutting-edge research experience in the theories, technologies and applications of cybersecurity and data science. Taking into consideration the continuous evolving technological and academic changes, as well as the feedback from our students, in this year we have implemented small-scale but very targeted changes in our MSc program. Our goal was to cover additional aspects of cybersecurity and data science, and to also offer more alternatives to our students for their selective courses.  Our team of instructors consists of highly experienced faculty, internationally recognized in the fields of Cybersecurity and Data Science, making a unique MSc Program.

We will continue to improve our Program in terms of teaching, research, laboratory and other activities by:

  1. Supporting our courses (in terms of lab assistants,, infrastructure, etc.) by the affiliated research labs of the University of Piraeus, namely the Cybersecurity Lab, the Data Science Lab, the Decision Support Systems Lab, the Embedded Systems Lab, and the Network Research Lab.
  2. Extending our already established collaborations with successful training platform providers, both in the area of cybersecurity and data science.
  3. Extending our already established collaborations with certification bodies, in order to provide opportunities to our students for continuous training and certification.
  4. Providing outreach to students and researchers at a variety of career stages, by extending our interactions with business and industry.
